Our application process

What you should expect from our recruitment process

  • 1. Online application

Search and apply for jobs across UCL. You can save and return to applications as many times as you need. Once you submit your application, you’ll receive an email acknowledgement. We’ll be reviewing your application against the job description and person specification so make sure your application explains how your experience matches this.

  • 2. Shortlisting

Applicants who best match the criteria outlined in the person specification will be shortlisted for an interview.

If you’re shortlisted, you will receive an email or telephone call to invite you to the next stage.

  • 3. Interview

You will be invited to attend an interview with a UCL selection panel, this may include undertaking any selection tests – for example giving a presentation.

You will also be asked to bring proof of your right to work in UK and any other relevant documents (for example qualification certificates).

  • 4. Offer and contract

If you have been successful, we will telephone you to make you a verbal offer. You will then receive an email with your conditional offer of employment and provisional contract of employment (subject to the pre-employment screening checks) for you to sign electronically.

We will carry out the pre-employment screening (including reference and other checks such as DBS if applicable) and once the checks are complete, we will issue your confirmation of employment [letter? Email? TBC].

(TBC post offer and contract review process)

  • 5. Start

You will receive information ahead of joining to help you make a great impression, plus lots of support from day 1 as you begin your UCL journey.
