The Role & Key Responsibilities

The role holder will work with individuals and line managers to support them in gaining support through Access to Work and our internal Dyslexia Assessor Teams, support networks and Support and Development team.
The Work Place Adjustment Coordinator will work within the collaborated Support & Development Team and will be expected to provide guidance and signpost internal and external support to colleagues who may have additional learning or neurodiversity needs in order to allow them to engage as fully and productively as possibly in their roles within the organisation.
You will enjoy a high level of autonomy and impact, and we are seeking an individual who can recognise our existing strengths – but challenge our current processes to be the best possible experience for all our staff and officers. You will work alongside the Learning and Professional Development team, and our Human Resources partners to ensure effective support for all our colleagues.
The job holder will have discretion in how they manage their own workload and allocate cases to the Dyslexia Assessor Teams. They will be expected to provide advice on adjustments but with the ability to recognise when a case is complex and will need the involvement of the relevant business partners.
They will have discretion to process agreed Access to Work requests but the agreement must come from the relevant line manager. The ability to be creative and to think out of the box will be essential to success in this role. The key responsibilities of the role will be:
Process agreed workplace adjustments in a timely manner, keeping all stakeholders updated of progress as needed.
Make sure that the Access to Work scheme is being used as fully as possible, signposting individuals and line managers to the scheme where appropriate.
Providing advice and guidance. Where appropriate positively signpost colleagues to mechanisms supporting their welfare in terms of absence, neurodiversity needs, learning support aides, pastoral support and any wider concerns.
Co-ordinate the caseload of the Dyslexia Assessor Teams (DAT) in Sussex Police. Monitor Quick Scan results and arrange further screening if needed Identify trends in adjustments being requested and report on these regularly to make sure that adjustments are easily accessible through appropriate suppliers.
Provide advice and guidance on Workplace Adjustments, referring complex queries onto the local HR Business Partnering team as needed.
Liaise with Procurement to make sure that supplier agreements are in place for regularly requested adjustments.
Assist in updating the Workplace Adjustments and Neurodiversity intranet pages with up to date news and articles, including maintaining the suppliers list
To advise and monitor spending on A2W and ensure that systems are in place to recoup expenditure.
Horizon scan for awareness campaigns, communications and potential training to increase the awareness of Workplace Adjustments across the forces .
Skills & Experience
ESSENTIAL
* Passionate about inclusion and helping others to bring their whole self to the workplace.
* Willing to challenge outdated thinking on the reasons that individuals may need adjustments.
* Minimum Level 3 training qualification (e.g. NVQ, Certificate / Diploma in teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector, Certificate in Education or equivalent) A Levels or equivalent.
* The ability to work with learners and to be able to support colleagues with different learning needs and requirements throughout their daily jobs.
* Be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of neurodiversity and be able to put in place effective plans to support colleagues in the workplace.
* Proven ability of successfully working with apprenticeships with a sound understanding of the apprenticeship lifecycle and government reporting requirements.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to present to groups or individuals
* Excellent negotiating, influencing and problem solving skills especially around logistical planning.
* Highly competent ICT skills, including Microsoft Office especially excel and web-based applications including TEAMS and Sharepoint.
* Has the ability to plan ahead, manage and prioritise their workload and respond flexibly to rapidly changing demands
* To be able to produce and review complex information and documents to a high standard
* Whilst primarily based in Surrey the post holder must be prepared to work across Surrey and Sussex and liaise with their counterpart in Sussex Police.
* Occasional travel within the UK to visit other sites using personal vehicle or public transport as appropriate.
* These may involve occasional overnight stays.
* Regular travel within the Force area to support apprenticeship events and maintain professional links with stakeholders.
DESIRABLE
• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Assessment and Verification
• Experience of working within an apprenticeship environment
• Experience with reporting systems such as ILR (Individual Learning Records)
• Experience of running meetings, both in person and virtually.
