This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst continuing to be two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.
Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.
Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowance and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
Sussex and Surrey IT Department are recruiting 2x full-time, 1 year FTC Desktop IT Technician based at either Sussex HQ, Lewes or Surrey HQ, Guildford. This is a second line support role to support the rollout of W10 to the Forces’ end point devices: desktops, laptops and thin client devices.
The role will involve travelling to Force and Multi agency locations around both counties to support frontline policing through technical problem solving and installing/ supporting networked and various other mobile Endpoint devices.
This role will be offered as a 1 year FTC or secondment.
We are recruiting 2x Deployment Engineers. 1 based in Surrey and 1 in Sussex although travel across both Forces will be required.
Key Responsibilities
You will be key to the success of our W10 Deployment Team in supporting this important programme.
You will handle hardware setup, configuration and deployment to customers and manage a fault queue, prioritising and resolving end point issues working with a support tickets system, escalating critical issues and risks as appropriate.
Skills & Experience
It is desirable that you are familiar with W10, end point devices and associated management and deployment systems (SCCM, Active Directory, GPO, MBAM, Bitlocker, VPN, etc).
It is desirable that you understand local encryption, security and identity software, hardware, software and facilities used to make secure connections across untrusted networks including configuration and policy.
A familiarity with desktop hardware and peripherals is required, including operating systems, office applications and other specialist application software installed and operated from end-user devices. Candidates require an awareness of network connectivity and cabling between desktops and peripherals and associated standards including client device management and security systems.
For example, Desktop PC's and thin client hardware, printers and MFP's, external storage devices, scanners, bar code readers, approved client software such as MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio and Adobe Acrobat, MS Office components, IE and other browsers, Anti-virus software, Client IP and networking configuration, USB standards, Microsoft SCCM.
Effective communication skills are essential as you will need to be able to liaise with stakeholders both internal and external.
You will need to have a clean driving licence as you will need to drive Sussex and/or Surrey Police fleet vehicles to work in our other locations. You will need to pass a Police Basic Driving Assessment. It is desirable that you have use of a car with business insurance also.
Applicants must display the ability to work independently with a professional approach. The ability to pay attention to detail is essential. Good written and verbal communication skills and organisational skills will be key for the successful candidate. Your customer care skills must be outstanding.
The post holder will be expected to be flexible in the working arrangements including location and hours where required.
