Division / Department - Specialist Crime Grade - M1 Status - Full Time Contract Type - Fixed Term Contract Salary Grade Range - £42,207 - £46,437 Working Hours - 37.0 Hours per Week Shift Allowance - Politically Restricted - The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
The Sussex Violence Reduction Partnership is seeking an individual with proven experience in designing and delivering evaluations and in the use of data to inform evidence-led approaches, ideally in a criminal justice or related field.
This is a strategic role responsible for leading the VRP’s priority around data sharing and evaluation. This includes overseeing the development of a multi-agency data hub, identifying data partners and negotiating data sharing agreements, the development and design of an evaluation strategy, provision of evidence to inform the design and implementation of strategies and interventions and the production of Home Office mandatory products.
You will provide support and guidance for local partners in establishing their impact reporting systems and provide specialist assistance to improve their approaches to project and intervention evaluation, contributing to a culture of evidence led approaches across the Sussex VRP.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the VRP's monitoring and evaluation framework

Engage with and gain commitment from strategic and operational partners represented within the VRP structure for improving our shared data sharing and analytical capability.

Work with relevant partners to scope and understand the nature and availability of data gathered and analysed relevant to our understanding and response to serious violence, including understanding limits and caveats.
- Lead the development of a VRP multi-agency data hub to improve understanding, planning, delivery and evaluation of the local response to serious violence and other harmful behaviours.

Support the commissioning of an external evaluation and work with the commissioned evaluation partner.

Support and advise the VRP analyst in the on-going delivery of data products.

Provide expertise in ensuring the VRP draws on the best available evidence in the design and development of strategies and interventions.

Work with the VRP Manager to establish data sharing architecture and secure routine information sharing.

Support the VRP Manager in the delivery of the VRPs mandatory products including the Strategic Needs Assessment and Response Strategy refresh and the Annual report.

Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Qualified to a post-graduate level in a relevant subject working at a senior level in a relevant specialist area.
- Experience of working within a multi-agency environment with operational and senior stakeholder at a local and national level
- Demonstrate knowledge of current and relevant legislation (Data Protection Act, GDPR, European Court of Human Rights, Freedom of Information etc.).
- Ability to communicate (both written and verbally) complex and specialist information with both technical and non-technical audiences from a range of multi-agency settings.
- Excellent organisational skills including the ability to work under pressure and balance competing demands.
- Excellent IT skills including extensive experience using all common Microsoft packages and evaluation tools.
- The ability to apply knowledge and experience to work independently and solve complex problems to deliver effective products within a dynamic multi-agency environment.
- Experience of executing data and evaluation projects with mixed method approaches from concept through to design and delivery.
- Experience of the practical implementation of data security, access control and data protection principles and legislation and navigating this within a multi-agency setting
- Detail focused with a concern for accuracy.
- Effective team player.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the Public Health Approach to Serious Violence
- Experience of working in a community safety, criminal justice, social care or healthcare setting.
Further Information
Please note this is a fixed term contract for two years. We cannot guarantee that the role will be funded beyond this period. We are happy to consider secondments.
