Surrey and Sussex Police Forces are offering the opportunity for substantive Chief Inspectors to take part in a joint promotion process for the rank of Superintendent. We would particularly welcome applicants from under-represented groups. Level transfer requests and transfer on promotion will also be considered.
We are looking for highly motivated leaders with an established track record of improving performance in an ever-changing environment. Successful candidates will have the ability to lead teams, manage demand and problem solve, whilst encouraging a positive organisational culture and supporting staff wellbeing. They will also be able to build strong and sustained relationships with communities, partners and the media whilst promoting a positive image of Surrey and Sussex Police.
In recent years Surrey and Sussex Police have been collaborating across a number of operational policing services and both forces serve a diverse range of communities, affording plenty of opportunity for a varied leadership career.
You must meet the following criteria:
• No live written warnings informal or formal and / or management advice, including action plans for performance, attendance or conduct issues
• Applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate evidence of discretionary effort and operational competence, eg Gold Public Order, TFC, SFC, SIO, PIP responsibilities.
• Successful candidates will be expected to form part of the Force on-call Gold rota.
You will be required to evidence the behaviours and values set out within the Competency and Values Framework for Policing (CVF). The Code of Ethics will also remain integral to the behaviours we would expect you to demonstrate during the process.
The selection process will consist of the following:
1. An evidence based application form in line with the CVF, and line manager endorsement - please submit the form attached to this advert with your application, these will contribute to the final selection process.
2. A competency based (CVF) interview.
3. Assessment will also include:
a. Participation in a People’s Panel – presentation topic to be communicated to shortlisted candidates on the day.
b. A media interview.
