The Role

Sussex Police is using analytics to improve the way we police, both in terms of operational effectiveness and organisational efficiency. Our aim is to put the best possible information into the hands of frontline officers to save them time, help them target resources and make better informed decisions to keep the public safe.

Corporate Development Department (CDD) are delivering advanced insight into the extensive data held be Sussex Police using Power BI tools. The team are currently migrating from Power BI Report Server to Power BI Service.

We are looking for a 3rd Senior Data Scientist to join the team to help design and maintain Power BI Dataflows, Datasets, Reports and Dashboards and seek to continuously improve the products and services delivered to Chief Officers and Frontline teams.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

•To act as single point of contact for Power BI service delivery and improvement
• To use statistical methodology to derive strategic insights from organisational data
• Consulting upon, designing, creating and maintaining Power BI dashboards which support all aspects of operational policing and corporate assurance
• Provide technical expertise on Power BI and SQL development for the force - supporting colleagues in the delivery of their work and managing the technical requirements of development work.
• Define and maintain the architectural standards, frameworks and processes required to build and operate an effective and efficient Power BI service.

Skills & Experience

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to manipulate, and work with large amounts of data
• Power Automate, and Power Apps
• Spatial data via ArcGIS or other spatial data analysis software
• Python or other programming languages, such as R and JavaScript
