The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
Management of LAN and WAN technologies and protocols. Unified messaging principles and technologies that integrate email, as well as Network Security
Cisco switches and routers: Firewalls, Cisco ASA, Checkpoint, Watchguard.
Trouble shooting and configuration as required
The role requires the holder to participate in the on call rota current at the time of hiring
Key Responsibilities
Maintain Network integrity, and security, troubleshoot issues as they are identified, work to resolve BAU day to day issues that fall within the remit of the Network team and as defined by the Network manager and Team Leader, as well as any instruction given by a manager in the IT Department.
Work on projects as assigned by the team leader, and follow priorities as defined by management.
Network security principles and related hardware, software and systems that prevent unauthorised access to the network or parts of the network. Entry point security systems including firewalls, intrusion detection and alerting services. Physical and virtual segregation techniques that protect more secure areas of the internal trusted network and more exposed external facing areas through DMZs. Scanning and penetration testing for vulnerabilities
Skills & Experience
We are looking for a broad range of skills. CCNA required; working towards CCNP would be ideal.
Exposure to server and desktop technologies would be helpful, and a solid understanding of Firewalls/security is essential.
We are looking for solid troubleshooting/problem solving skills around a sound understanding of the TCP/IP stack and the OSI stack, with capacity planning, QOS and working with devices such as NIKSUN.
Knowledge of desktop and server operating systems would be advantageous
Exposure to SIEM technology, and Nessus would be useful.
