The Role & Key Responsibilities
From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.
It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
This Secretary position is pivotal in supporting the Police Command team for Brighton and Hove Division in Brighton Police Station, John Street, Brighton. You will work with two other Secretaries in the team and together will manage diaries, arrange meetings, record points from various high level meetings and engage with a variety of people both within the Force and partners in the city.
The role is a maternity cover, as a fixed term contact, which is likely to be for a year from approximately mid May 2024 to mid May 2025.
We are able to offer a guaranteed parking space with this role, on site at Brighton Police Station.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for a candidate who has the following skills:
▫ Advanced Microsoft Office skills. ▫ Ability to take minutes ▫ Good general IT literacy. ▫ Accurate typing skills with relative speed ▫ GCSE English Grade C or above (or equivalent) ▫ Outlook diary management training and experience ▫ Strong organisational skills and the ability to produce high quality work to tight deadlines ▫ Excellent customer services skills ▫ Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information. ▫ Proven track record of secretarial and office experience. ▫ Good interpersonal skills facilitating daily interaction with a wide variety of contacts at all levels, both within the immediate team, Sussex Police and externally. ▫ Good verbal and written communication skills. ▫ Problem solving skills. ▫ Willing and able to undertake training to become proficient in using additional IT and multimedia systems that are essential to the role. (▫ or relevant transferable skills for the above if you do not have existing secretarial experience)
