This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst continuing to be two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.
Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.
Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowance and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
Applications are now invited for the post of Quality Management Support Assistant within the Forensic Investigations Quality Management Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a significant part in delivering quality assured forensic services to Surrey and Sussex Police.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the Quality Management System including identifying opportunities to improve service delivery You will provide support to Quality Management Team and be responsible for administrating quality improvement actions including non-conformances.
Updating and maintaining version control of Quality System documentation is a key part of your role ensuring that documents are reviewed and updated and circulated to relevant staff. You will possess good planning and organisational skills and will facilitate the management of the annual audit cycle. Tasking internal auditors and maintaining effective communication with them to complete audits on time will be a key part of your role.
You will also undertake the role of secretariat for Quality Management meetings and other management meetings in Forensic Investigations as required. Responsibilities will also include record management, using spreadsheets to process and prepare management information. A high level of knowledge and understanding of the Quality Standards, ISO17025 and ISO 17020 and the Forensic Science Regulators Codes of Practice and Conduct will be required to fulfil your role.
Skills & Experience
The post holder will have a good standard of secondary education at ‘GCSE’ Level or equivalent, including English and Mathematics They will an excellent knowledge of a range of Microsoft Office tools eg Word, Excel and databases.
The successful candidate will have good written communication skills with an ability to produce clear and accurate records and reports. Evidence of working independently, often to tight deadlines with the flexibility to adjust to changes in demand and priorities is required together with good planning and organisational skills.
Experience of providing administrative support in a service orientated sector, which operates to defined quality standards is desirable. A facilitative and supportive approach, requiring a high degree of initiative, along with excellent interpersonal skills to solve issues and problems or when to escalate to an appropriate level is required.
