This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst remaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.
Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.
Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances and hours.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

We have an exciting Fixed Term Contract opportunity for a Project Officer working in the Change Delivery team for a Surrey based project.
The role will be focused on supporting the adoption of new ways of working across a large portfolio of change, working with the Project Manager & Business Change Manager to gather and share information with projects to support them in their planning and change activity.
We are looking for an applicant to work from Surrey Police Headquarters in Guildford.
We work flexibly and support agile working.
This role is an opportunity for anyone who is an existing project officer or considers moving to the Project Management career path to be part of the significant change activity taking place across both Forces.
Your day-to-day duties will vary depending on what programmes and projects you are working on, but your responsibilities are likely to include:
- Providing a range of project management and support activities to project and programme managers, ensuring accurate and timely information is available to enable projects to be progressed to meet deadlines and objectives.
- To manage both small-scale projects and stages within the main project simultaneously
- Agreeing and monitoring key deliverables and milestones, establishing resource requirements, Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the project documentation including but not limited to, the project plans, project risk/issue, status reports, dependencies and assumptions.
- Actively contributes to the overall success of the programme/projects by identifying issues, risk and dependencies and linkages and proposing different ideas and approaches.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of programmes/projects through facilitating the set-up of meetings/workshops, coordinating any associated programme/project documentation information packs as required etc.
- Works with the programme/project manager and project/programme team to ensure that risks and issues are identified; manage the risks/assumptions/dependencies logs and recommends risks are escalated to programme/board level where appropriate.
- Gather, record and analyse data for use in order to identify solutions to problems relating to delivery of project objectives, or which could impact on the project’s ability to deliver to time quality & cost.
- Carry out appropriate research and analysis, and document findings in an appropriate format (e.g. process maps, charts) for the audience.
- Liaison with stakeholders on a regular basis to gather programme/project information and update programme/project management products, summary documents and status/highlight reports.

In essence the role is to provide general assistance across a broad range of Project and Business Change Activities.
You will be expected to:
- Support the work of the Innovate Working Group and the production of data pack for Innovate Board
- Working with Projects assist with ongoing review and updating of the Force Update Portal
- To manage small scale project stages
- Maintaining accurate project documentation, including but limited to risks and dependencies, project plans, Status reports
- Successful candidates will be expected to have excellent attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, in addition to inquisitive and tenacious approaches to data gathering.
- The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience in managing competing requirements and prioritise tasks across a diverse range of subject areas.
- The ability to respond effectively to immediate queries is vital.
- You must be an exceptional communicator as you will be expected to maintain good working relationships within the organisation, including key stakeholders and internal customers.
Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, or able to demonstrate experience as a project manager or consultant.
- Ideally, PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification or similar, and proven experience in project management.
- Competence in MS Office Suite, and it would be useful to have experience with Visio and Project.
This role requires travel to meetings and locations across Surrey.
The post-holder must therefore have the ability to travel to locations when required to do so.
Where transport involves the use of police vehicles, you must have a full driving licence and the ability to attain a Force Police Driving Permit.
