The Role & Key Responsibilities
An exciting role, to deliver a high quality postal service to the public and the Force. Provide an efficient and professional mailroom service to include the delivery of goods and mail to the public throughout the country and also to the Force including Surrey Police. To sort and organise the high volume of post for the Shoreham Police Station. Distinguishing the relevant areas within the station and preparing and distributing work for the Central Ticket and Summons Unit (CTSU). The role requires candidates to be physically fit as there is a large amount of frequent heavy items to manage.
Shoreham Police Station does not have any lifts. To be the centralised mail room encompassing all road traffic matters, Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) and crime matters throughout the force. To sort and open incoming mail, parcels, evidential court files, monies and driving licences, both external and internal (throughout the force) To scan, batch and account for all incoming correspondence using a bespoke scanning system for the Safety Camera and Ticket Team on a daily basis. To operate complex mailing equipment to ensure external mail is prepared on behalf of Royal Mail for collection.
To sort all Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPT); Traffic Offence Reports (TORs), Penalty Notice For Disorders (PNDs), Crime and non-Crime files, Collision files, Vehicle Defect Rectification (VDRS) received force wide and distribute to the relevant departments within CTSU in a timely manner.
To provide a complete postal tracking service with audit trails, for both incoming and outgoing urgent, high value, important or critical items.
To order and supply Districts with Traffic Offence Reports, VDRs and Penalty Notice for Disorder Tickets and maintain levels of stock.
To order high volumes of consumables, stationary and office equipment for CTSU i.e.; File Build, Camera Technicians, Collisions, Enquiry Officers and Sussex Safer Roads Partnership.
To attend court when required and give concise, factual evidence on behalf of Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) and Sussex Police.
Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.
