The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to research, prepare, develop, maintain and deliver a programme of initial and refresher training for recruit officers, Investigative Officers, Special Constabulary and any other employees. Supervise and develop students in the classroom setting alongside blended learning and virtual delivery.

To ensure a safe working environment for students and staff and that training activities have been risk assessed and are regularly reviewed.

To support and manage learning and assessment activities to ensure progress of students through each programme and liaise with university partners and other key stake holders to support students in achieving their academic goals.

To hold tutorials with students to discuss their individual progress and where necessary provide support and guidance. To complete associated administrative/clerical duties in line with the learning programmes they are teaching on.

To prepare and deliver interview training. The ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the concept of diversity, with the ability to embed this knowledge throughout all learning and development programmes.

Well-developed written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate records and reports. Highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative under minimal supervision, being flexible with other partners who are linked to the learner’s progress. e.g., universities, external assessors.

Is fully conversant with Microsoft Office products, with accurate keyboard skills and willing to embrace new technologies to improve delivery of training to employees of Sussex Police.

Key Responsibilities

To design, deliver and update courses for new recruits and staff employed by Sussex Police as required. Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures.

Assist other members of the Learning and Professional Development team as required.

The applicant will ideally have proven and well-evidenced recent experience of designing and delivering a diverse range of learning activities with evaluated outcomes exceptional interpersonal and communication skills together with the ability to facilitate the development of others and to influence and empower students so that they are able to make any required adjustments to their behaviour.

It is important that the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate how they have been able to coach people through learning new skills or knowledge.

Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to facilitate workshops for individuals & teams.

Skills & Experience

The applicant will ideally possess a minimum Level 3 training qualification e.g., Education &; Training Award or be willing to work towards and achieve this requirement within the first 6 months of appointment.

It is desirable to have had previous experience of policing and access to transport.
