The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Sussex Violent and Sexual Offenders Register (ViSOR) Team for a Police Staff Offender Manager based in Eastbourne. This is a fixed term secondment scheduled to run until June 2023.

Together with our partners, to monitor registered sex offenders (RSOs) and other persons subject of the Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA), through direct contact, management and development of the individuals concerned.

To ensure that information held on Force and National systems is accurate and up to date, and all actions are in line with relevant guidelines and legislation.

Key Responsibilities

To conduct home visits for the purpose of monitoring the risk of the particular offender. Identify changes in risk factors and ensure appropriate action is taken to manage and where necessary review the risk. To check the offender is complying with legislation and court orders, and to detect possible offences.

To be responsible for the updating of the National ViSOR system in line with agreed national standards and interrogating the system in respect of enquiries regarding Sex and Dangerous Offenders.

To complete detailed risk assessments, in line with the Active Risk Management System (ARMS) and associated risk management plans, to identify, assess and manage the risks posed by offenders.

To investigate any breach of notification offences/SHPO committed by registered sex offenders. To complete evidential files and liaise with the Crown Prosecution Services (CPS).

Establishing and maintaining working relationships with internal departments and external partner agencies

To provide a point of contact for officers investigating sexual offences, including those relating to child abuse, vulnerable adult abuse, domestic violence and hate crime.

Making applications for civil orders such as those under the Sexual Offences Act. (SHPO/SRO)

To ensure that the PNC system and local Police intelligence systems are up to date and reliable in relation to our nominal’s.

To undertake MAPPA safeguarding disclosures to third parties.

Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.

Skills & Experience

- Proven Investigative experience with the ability to continually prioritise own workload

- Ability to interrogate and analyse information to solve problems and make justifiable and defensible decisions

- An awareness of diversity issues and the ability to deal with people from a diverse range of backgrounds

- Awareness of confidentiality, maintaining a high degree of integrity when dealing with sensitive and classified information

- Proven ability in problem solving and working under pressure with minimal supervision

- Experience of partnership working
