The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role

To assist with administrative and transactional duties in the delivery of an effective professional service to all employees and stakeholders across a collaborated function.

To work as part of a team providing advice and guidance to a range of payroll queries and support for the payroll team.

This role is advertised as a Fixed Term Contract to end on 31 March 2023
Agile working - mixture of working from home and office (located at Sussex Police Headquarters in Lewes)

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide excellent customer service. Receive and respond to requests from Officers, Staff and external providers in a timely manner, ensuring a professional and accurate outcome. Ensuring all calls are logged and recorded as required.
2. Perform a wide range of administrative and transactional tasks ensuring they are accurate, timely and efficient so that records are maintained and up to date.
3. Provide effective resolution of enquiries. Escalating more complex issues to the Team and ensuring involvement of colleagues across the retained HR, Finance or IT business areas as appropriate.
4. To work closely across different functions within the SBS within 'one team' as resilience when needed.
5. Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties outside of your graded post.
6. Deal with all enquiries in confidence and at all times adhering to GDPR.
7. Maintain and understand Policies.
8. Assisting in any system testing when required, ensuring system changes are applied correctly according to legislative and statutory requirements.
9. Insight into the payroll including pension, tax and Ni enquires.

Skills & Experience

Numerate, Literate, able to work in fast paced customer focused environment.

Essential Criteria
• A good standard of general education • MS Outlook, Excel and Word Skills are essential with strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of data.
• Demonstrate experience in dealing with customers in person, via email and over the phone. The ability to build good rapport with internal and external stakeholders
• Organised and methodical with a high attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work under tight time pressures and to strict deadlines
• flexibility with hours and peak periods of work is essential
Additional Requirements
• Demonstrate some experience in a Payroll or similar office environment, experience of using SAP is an advantage
• Ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult or distressed people, ability to explain complex matters in a straightforward way
• The successful candidate will also need to be a team player, proactive and flexible to support the Force business needs
