This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst continuing to be two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.
Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.
Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowance and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
This role is based out of Woking, Surrey.
Coordinate the force mechanisms for recording, scoring and prioritising threat, risk and harm relating to Serious Organised Crime (SOC) at BCU, SCC and force level and support the appropriate regional or national governance processes for these.
Ensure data quality, accuracy and consistency in scoring and population of all force systems and databases.
Ensure understanding and compliance with all BCU, SCC, Force, Regional and National governance frameworks relating to systems and databases.
Cross-reference data held across matrices and force systems to ensure that information is not held in isolation and all information is linked up, shared and used appropriately.
Key Responsibilities
To be the force point of contact and expert in force mechanisms for recording, scoring and prioritising threat, risk and harm relating to SOC (hereafter referred to as appropriate force systems and databases).
Ensure that those who input data into appropriate force systems and databases do so when they should and how they should. Ensure that data is maintained, reviewed, archived and deleted accurately and consistently, according to national, regional and force standards and processes.
Ensure those who need to contribute to and use appropriate force systems and databases understand these, how they work and the processes that they enable. This will include people within the Intelligence Department, Lead Responsible Officers (LROs) and Chairs of TCGs. This could be on a one-to-one basis, at meetings, or through delivering specific training.
Control and validate processes for creating entries onto appropriate force systems and databases against set data standards and definitions (for example OCG nominations and disruptions).
Liaise with the ROCU (or other Agency as appropriate) to supply data from appropriate force systems and databases to enable cross-checking (sometimes referred to as ‘data washing’) against appropriate out-of-force information systems.
Review data held across all force systems and databases to ensure all relevant data is recorded everywhere it should be and is appropriately cross-referenced. Address any gaps identified as appropriate.
Collate and maintain management information data relating to the appropriate force systems and databases, summarising and reporting information as per force, regional or national reporting responsibilities.
Ensure that data and context is supplied to BCU, Force and Regional Tasking and Coordinating Group (TCG) processes. Attend relevant TCGs or other appropriate meetings to give an overview of the current overall data position, and context around the system, database and related processes.
Attend force, regional or national meetings as required as the force point of contact to ensure that the application, development and changes to the appropriate force systems and databases, and related processes are all aligned with regional and national requirements.
To provide support to spontaneous, critical and major incidents or events as directed. This can also include providing support to other Divisions, Departments or Forces as directed by the Intelligence SMT. This may include working outside your standard contracted hours and/or away from your usual base of work at short notice.
To conduct all responsibilities in strict adherence with all relevant legislation, codes of practice, standards, protocols, policy, procedures and guidelines.
To undertake such other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may reasonably be required, including the specific duties of similar or lesser graded posts.
Skills & Experience
Educated to A level standard or equivalent, with English and Maths at GCSE grade C or above.
Proven experience of maintaining systems and databases for the purposes of recording, reporting and coordination of data, activity and tasks.
Proven and well-evidenced experience of liaising between different teams/departments to maximise opportunities and achieve better outcomes (NOTE – this does not necessarily need to be in a law enforcement environment).
Proven experience of assimilating and making sense of relevant information. This includes being able to make links between information, identify potential risk, and consider information in the light of other information which may alter its risk and/or relevance.
Proven organisation, time management and prioritisation skills, to meet deadlines without constant or close supervision and working calmly and effectively, especially when working under pressure.
Excellent organisation and written skills in order to record and present information to enable others to understand data and reports. This includes the ability to produce accurate, timely and concise reports that may form part of a package that is formed and informed by multiple contributors.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and persuade groups or individuals while maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues of various ranks and grades.
The ability to quickly acquire and apply knowledge of appropriate legislation and administrative policies, procedures and systems in order to ensure that information/intelligence is managed correctly. A willingness to maintain continuous professional development.
A flexible approach towards achieving team objectives and be willing to undertake a wide range of duties.
Further Information
The post holder needs to be flexible with working hours to ensure resilience within the team and meet the requirements of the role. On occasions this may be to support fast time response to critical incidents, major events and serious crime or disorder.
The post-holder must have a high level of personal integrity and successfully attain and maintain security vetting and appropriate clearance to work in the postholder’s intelligence environment.
This role involves travel to meetings and locations within and beyond the force boundary for which public transport may not be suitable. Therefore the post holder must have their own means of transport and be insured for business use. Where the transport involves the driving of police vehicles, you must have a full driving licence and the ability to attain a Force Police Driving Permit.
