This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst continuing to be two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.
Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.
Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowance and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
As this role is a Bank position, the salary will be £29 per hour with a working day of 7.5 hours.
To work as an OHA in the occupational health, fitness and wellbeing service (OH&WS) delivering a professional occupational health service for employees, and working with the wider OH team in meeting this expectation. Ensuring that service user needs are met, targets achieved and that the highest standard of clinical care and service are provided as a case manager undertaking health assessments
Key Responsibilities
• To undertake face to face and telephone clinics as required to support KPIs and ensure smooth service provision. To undertake case management, health assessments/surveillance and immunisations providing evidence based advice and providing clear concise reports within the set KPIs
• To build and foster positive relationships with key stakeholders in the collaboration, including the wider OH team and maintain good communications making recommendations for service improvements where appropriate to the Clinical Lead and Head of Service
• To assist with provision of robust processes to ensure that health assessments and health surveillance are provided and that effective recall processes are in place
• To maintain a good knowledge of the latest legislative requirements and occupational health guidelines and changes in practice in line with the recognised professional bodies and maintain competencies in all tasks undertaken
• To, if required, give presentations, within the department and to the services at large where a need is identified. To assist in the development of presentations for this purpose
• To support and participate in training and share knowledge with other OH staff when required
• To pro-actively support health and wellbeing initiatives as required in liaison with the Wellbeing Lead
• To attend meetings, groups and forums as required and liaise with managers on Case Management to support and advise services to achieve their sickness absence targets and organisational goals
• To effectively input and recall data from the database management system in use (Cohort)
• Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post
Skills & Experience
ESSENTIAL
QUALIFICATIONS: (A minimum qualification must be included in the essential section-this must not be left blank)
• Registered Nurse with evidence of further study and ongoing professional development. Specialist OH Qualification and SCPHN registration
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
• Participates in relevant training and maintains and develops own OH practice, taking responsibility for personal and professional development and competency
• Highest standards of OH clinical work and report writing
• Competency in pre-placement health assessments and advice on fitness for work
• Excellent understanding of current OH issues and practice
• Independent practitioner who is confident and competent in practice
• Willing to travel and be confident working on their own in varying locations
• Demonstrable knowledge of good working practices and administrative procedures with good attention to detail and accuracy
DESIRABLE
QUALIFICATIONS: (A minimum qualification must be included in the essential section-this must not be left blank)
• Specialist OH Qualification and SCPHN registration is preferred but relevant experience will be considered
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
• OH experience in a safety critical environment. Experience in the Police or Fire and Rescue Services
• Vaccination, immunisation and venepuncture competency and experience
• Previous experience and competency of health surveillance and fitness for work assessments
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, in order to deal courteously and effectively using sensitivity and tact with confidential issues and with the ability to convey ideas and advice in a clear and meaningful way.
• The ability to work calmly under pressure, and respond flexibly to changing and sometimes challenging demands
• Team worker who supports others and promotes the departmental goals alongside colleagues.
• Willingness to assist with the induction of other new colleagues and support their training and introduction to the service
