The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
As part of the Niche Property implementation programme, you will need to undertake an audit of all physical items in store alongside the information contained within the legacy property databases, enabling the disposal or transfer of evidential property data for ‘live’ investigations to the new Niche Property RMS database.
Surrey property records are currently contained in 3 separate databases and this role will involve researching all associated systems to identify the status of each investigation and determining the disposal or ongoing retention of any property seized as evidence.
Key Responsibilities
Identifying data and researching Niche Investigations and historic databases in order to locate the investigation. All live investigation data and long term retention items will be transferred to Niche Property RMS.
Review all property items in store (pre-Niche Property RMS implementation) to determine validity of ongoing retention.
Undertake a programmed audit of high risk seized and retained property items in Surrey, i.e. cash, firearms, ammunition, drugs, DNA/forensics
Responsible for raising actions, liaising with the officer in charge (OIC) to determine the course of action. If no OIC is assigned, determine the status of the investigation and make a decision regarding retention or disposal in line with CPIA, PACE and Limitations Act.
Identify property items which are active and/or required for long term retention and are therefore suitable for manual conversion to Niche Property.
Update the records in the legacy database and Niche RMS if appropriate.
Data correction to allow the import of correct data to Niche Property RMS.
Skills & Experience
Practical Niche experience is required. (Experience of the Criminal Investigation System,(CIS) is desirable)
Prior investigative experience.
Investigator qualifications (PIP level 2 or 3 desirable but must hold PIP Level 1 or comparable qualification.)
Prior experience of dealing with seized property.
Ability to identify, abstract and record information in an accurate manner.
Problem solving skills and the ability to take a wider perspective when making decisions.
To have perseverance and commitment when carrying out routine tasks.
