Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowance and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
Due to promotion we currently have a number of exciting opportunities within our Vehicle Maintenance Teams to service a range of vehicles from Motorcycles to high performance cars and LCV’s; at both our Surrey (Shalford) workshop and our Sussex (Crawley) workshop. We offer a fantastic working environment with ongoing learning opportunities with a focus on work-life balance with a working week of Monday to Friday, 36 hours for Surrey and 37 hours for Sussex. Financial Benefits:
Surrey Police Grade F £25,835 to £29,960 plus £2400 pa Tool Allowance, and £3500 pa Market Supplement. Sussex Police Grade 9 £24,546 to £26,865, plus £2400 pa Tool Allowance, and £3500 pa Market Supplement.
Key Responsibilities
• Carrying out vehicle maintenance/repair
• Testing, diagnosing, and resolving faults
• Working on electrical and mechanical systems
• Dealing with unplanned emergency repairs which on occasion may include remote working.
• Inspecting components for wear and tear
• Commissioning and decommissioning vehicles, including the installation and removal of specialist Police Enforcement Equipment.
This opportunity will enable you to maintain and improve your skills, with a focus on meeting training objectives. We will also encourage your ideas on how we can support our policing colleagues through improvements to vehicle maintenance.
Skills & Experience
As the ideal candidate, you will possess:
• The knowledge to use modern diagnostic equipment
• The capability of working to the highest quality standards
• Experience of working within a quality driven environment
• Be a great team player and communication skills
• Maintain high standards of house-keeping
• Level 2 minimum Vehicle Maintenance & Repair NVQ or equivalent
• UK Driver’s license is desirable, but not essential.
But what is essential is a thirst for new technology such as ULEV which includes full electric / Hybrid and Hydrogen powered vehicles, and the desire to develop your skills to meet the future challenge.
