Vacancy Information
Fancy becoming someone else for the day?
Ever wondered what happens after someone has been arrested?
Our Foundation Training Team is looking for interview role play volunteers to help train our probationer constables. Probationer constables are new police officers completing their initial training before venturing out into the wider public.
Volunteers support this crucial aspect of training by providing accounts of various scenarios whilst being interviewed by a probationer.
Interviews will take place Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 16:00 at our HQ just outside of Guildford (reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed).
The Role
You will role play as a victim of crime, a witness to an incident, or possibly as a suspect for a crime. You will be provided with a specific briefing which will confirm the role you are undertaking and what is required of you.
Key Responsibilities
At the start of the day you will be asked to watch a video and use the information from this video to role play as a victim, witness or suspect during an interview.
During the interview you will need to recall and provide information such as names and dates of birth. You may also be asked to be obstructive and/or difficult, providing verbal resistance.
You will need to adopt a consistent approach to the interview role plays to ensure that each probationer is given equal opportunity. The interviews may be repeated approximately four times to cover all the probationer constables.
You may also be asked to provide feedback to the trainer in relation to a probationer’s performance and be able to evidence this with examples of their actions.
Skills & Experience
No formal previous experience is necessary; however, you will need to have the confidence to role play different roles according to the training and assessment requirements.
There will be certain pieces of key information that you will be briefed on which you will need to recall during the interview. You may be asked to disclose some of this information willingly, but some information you may be asked to keep to yourself for as long as possible!
