The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role

This role is due to begin on 1st April 2023 - December 2023.
Secondments will be considered for this role.

This role forms part of a wider team focusing on all areas of Information Management across Surrey Police. The role assists in analysing how information and knowledge is generated and used within the Force, there is not one area of policing that information does not feature and the role is critical in supporting how we best use information, corporately, operationally and working closely with Data Protection and IT Colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for identifying, developing and recommending processes for all areas of personal data, ensuring standardisation of processes and that these are in line with current and future business objectives. You will work closely with colleagues, external agencies and members of the public maintaining responsible information sharing and good information management practises.

You will work closely with IT in developing an appropriate information architecture whilst maintaining compliance with Data Protection legislation.

You will work both independently and as part of a team who work closely with counterparts in Sussex Police to develop and deliver guidance, advice and briefings throughout all levels of Surrey Police and Sussex Police.

Skills & Experience

• A degree or qualification in Information Handling or Criminal Justice or demonstrable experience.
• Have proven and well evidenced negotiating and influencing skills.
• Have proven and well evidenced experience of developing good relationships internally and externally to identify best practice and support the organisation to work collaboratively.
• Have good knowledge of technologies including Microsoft SharePoint.
• Excellent planning and organising skills and a proven ability to work under pressure, dealing with conflicting demands in order to meet agreed deadlines.
• Experience in dealing with situations and deviations from normal office routine and the ability to problem solve and provide suggested resolutions quickly and effectively in order to mitigate risks or maximise opportunities.
• Possess the ability to deliver presentations and briefings that both inform and influence the audience and have well developed interpersonal skills in relation to Information Management best practice and storage on the Force EDRMS.
• Have a good understanding of the principles of information and knowledge management, and of document and records management.
• Demonstrate an appreciation of end-user awareness with respect to developing systems and processes.
• Demonstrate the importance of delivering excellent ‘customer service’ and be a confident communicator.
• Possess well developed written skills, demonstrating the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate documentation.
