The Role & Key Responsibilities

To proactively support the Information Access Team (IAT) disclosure process, enabling the team to remain compliant in at least 90% of disclosures as required by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)

To triage new requests for information and where necessary, liaise with the requestor and offer advice and guidance to ensure that requests are valid and expectations are managed. To task questions to information asset owners across a wide variety of departments, ensuring that all relevant information is available and recorded, and capable of being considered in the decision making process.

To process requests made under the National CAFCASS Agreement, the NPCC / Association of British Insurers MOU and various other request types, making decisions regarding information disclosure or non-disclosure.

To process requests for information required for civil legal proceedings under either appendix D of ‘the Protocol’ or Court Order, identifying live cases and working with officers in the case and Legal Services to provide relevant information.

To provide an efficient administrative support for the Information Access Team to ensure the effective and professional running of the department. Identifying areas of IAT business and working practice which require updating in response to NPCC guidance and legislative changes and implement.

Skills & Experience

Qualification in Data Protection or Freedom of Information legislation or have demonstrable experience. (Preferable but training can be provided to successful candidadte).

GCSE grade C or above, or equivalent, in mathematics and English with a high standard of written and spoken English and with excellent spelling.

Make sound disclosure decisions based on legislative frameworks and force policy.

Identify evolving best practice and introduce technological advancements into the team’s workflows.

Excellent knowledge of technologies including Microsoft SharePoint and Office 365 applications.

Proven and well evidenced ability to influence and create good relationships with people.

Excellent planning and organising skills and a proven ability to work under pressure, dealing with conflicting demands in order to meet agreed deadlines.

Experience in dealing with situations / deviations from normal office routine and the ability to problem solve and provide suggested resolutions quickly and effectively in order to mitigate risks or maximise opportunities.

Good understanding of the principles of information disclosure processes and the various legislative requirements.

Good understanding of business processes in organisations, particularly as these relate to information and knowledge.

Demonstrate an appreciation of end-user awareness with respect to developing systems and processes.

Possess well developed written skills, demonstrating the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate documentation.

Possess the ability to work on one’s own initiative and experience of working under minimal supervision.

Possess good organisational and time management skills with an ability to work calmly and precisely under pressure as well as to tight deadlines.

Strong attention to detail.
