The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
You will be an integral part of the HYDRA delivery team providing a wide range of Hydra exercises to both the Force, other Forces and multi-agency partners. The role is exciting and varied, requiring technical skills and a passion for developing and supporting others. An aptitude for technology is essential.
Key Responsibilities
This role will be part of the team that designs, delivers and evaluates HYDRA learning activities which complement staff training throughout the force and meet internal and external requirements e.g. HMIC thematic Inspection recommendations. The successful candidate will contribute towards the operation of the HYDRA suite and all connected systems to provide a professional learning opportunity for all delegates ensuring all staff are given the opportunity to develop and increase their skills in a safe learning environment.
You will consistently monitor the delivery of learning within HYDRA to achieve the required delegate levels of knowledge, skills and behaviour and where necessary to identify and influence delegates to ensure they achieve agreed Force learning outcomes. You will be required to work with the team to produce HYDRA events (as directed) which are to Force standard, reflect organisational needs and are regularly updated, providing technical support throughout. Part of this role is to diagnose problems with technical equipment, find solutions and implement changes if required. Appropriate training and support will be given in this.
We need you to recognise, supervise and challenge inappropriate behaviour if displayed in the training environment in a professional manner to ensure that Force standards of behaviour are maintained. Occasional travel within the UK to visit other HYDRA suites will be required on occasions. These may involve occasional overnight stays. There is a requirement to be flexible around the need for occasional weekend and evening working so as to provide Surrey Police with a HYDRA capability across all potential customers.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have a professional understanding of operational policing wit good interpersonal, communication and technical skills. You will need a working knowledge of computer networks, audio visual systems and fault finding with a willingness and ability to deal with system issues and repairs · The ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the concept of diversity, with the ability to embed this knowledge throughout all learning and development programmes is essential
As part of this role you will be required to have well-developed written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate records and reports.
The successful candidate will require a willingness to attend external training courses in order to develop computer skills with regard to operating the HYDRA system and to maintain and exercise these skills in preparing HYDRA events.
You will be highly motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative under minimal supervision. The team is small and all with part time working hours so on occasions you could find yourself sole working so you will need to be self-motivated and proactive. Strong general IT literacy including the use of Microsoft Office products are essential and you will have the ability to plan ahead, manage and prioritise your workload and respond flexibly to rapidly changing demands
