The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
You will be an integral part of the HYDRA delivery team providing a wide range of Hydra exercises to both the Force, other Forces and multi-agency partners. The role is exciting and varied and requires facilitation and technical skills and a passion for developing and supporting others.
Key Responsibilities
This role will require you to design, deliver and evaluate HYDRA learning activities which complement staff training throughout the force and meet internal and external requirements e.g. HMIC thematic Inspection recommendations. After suitable training you will be part of the team managing the HYDRA suite and all connected systems to provide a professional and efficient learning opportunity for all delegates, ensuring staff are given the opportunity to develop the required competency to carry out their role within the Force by managing the learning and development of students.
To consistently monitor the delivery of learning within HYDRA to achieve the required delegate levels of knowledge, skills and behaviours and where necessary to identify and influence delegates to ensure they achieve agreed Force learning outcomes.
To produce HYDRA events (as directed) which are to Force standard, reflect organisational needs and are regularly updated and liaise with the L&D SBSC to ensure delegates are provided with appropriate pre and post course material.
To recognise, supervise and challenge inappropriate behaviour displayed in the training environment in a professional manner to ensure that Force standards of behaviour are maintained.
A key element of the role will also require you to establish effective networks with key internal and external partners to implement collaborative approaches to learning and development, as well as the overall running of the HYDRA Suite. You may also be required to provide a secondary skill to Surrey Police by operating the HYDRA Suite for the benefit of GOLD in times of local, national emergency or major incident.
It is essential that you have an understanding of technical equipment and be able to fault find and diagnose simple problems with the HYDRA foundation equipment supported with the appropriate training.
Skills & Experience
You will be required to have a training qualification or working towards one at a Level 3 as a minimum alongside the following essential skills:
Professional understanding of operational policing ·
Good interpersonal and communication skills together with the ability to facilitate the development of others and to influence and empower delegates so that they are able to make learn and gain from an immersive learning experience. ·
A working knowledge of computer networks, audio visual systems and fault finding with a willingness and ability to deal with system issues and repairs ·
Good presentation skills with the ability to facilitate workshops for teams of delegates or be willing to develop these skills by means of external courses. ·
The ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the concept of diversity, with the ability to embed this knowledge throughout all learning and development programmes. ·
Well-developed written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate records and reports. ·
A willingness to attend external training courses in order to develop computer skills with regard to operating the HYDRA system and to maintain and exercise these skills in preparing HYDRA events. ·
Highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative under minimal supervision. · Strong general IT literacy including the use of Microsoft Office products ·
Have the ability to plan ahead, manage and prioritise your workload and respond flexibly to rapidly changing demands ·
Occasional travel within the UK to visit other Hydra Suites using personal vehicle or public transport as appropriate which may involve occasional overnight stays.
