The Role
Applications are invited from substantive Inspectors for an expected vacancy around November 2021 at Gatwick airport. Gatwick is part of the Sussex Operations Department. You will be part of a team of Inspectors responsible for the delivery of Policing within the airport environment which is a unique and challenging role. As well as managing a team of armed and non-specialist responders, G99s take command of all Gatwick incidents, from aircraft emergencies, suspicious packages, counter terrorism tactics and play a critical role in all major incidents at the airport. Working with the airport operator, GG99s also deploy a host of tactical measures to resolve drone incidents. The measures available are some of the most advanced technologies on the market and are at the cutting edge of drone mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
Gatwick have five dedicated Critical Incident Inspectors who provide 24/7 cover to the airport, you will be required to work the Gatwick response shift pattern aligned to one of the five teams.
We have a strong working relationship with the airport which is essential, you will be expected to build key relationships and represent Sussex Police at meetings and work alongside the airport Security Duty Managers in response to incidents.
You will need to develop an understanding of threat, harm and risk in order run an effective Daily Management process setting clear priorities for all the teams and ensuring a one team approach to airport policing.
Skills & Experience
You will be an accredited Critical Incident Inspector and must be able to demonstrate your use of the NDM to prioritise competing demands in an operational environment.
You will be required to attend and pass a Tactical Firearms Command course due to the deployment of firearms within the airport.
You will be required to attend and pass the Gatwick Major Incident course.
