Surrey Police’s Force Control Room manages and coordinates police resources countywide with a single aim; to protect the public. (This is a different role to that of the Contact Centre Officers which is being advertised separately)

The Role
Working in a fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for the direction of resources to incidents via our radio system. You will be providing officers with critical information and updates as the incident develops.
This is an exciting and varied role which involves managing a wide range of incidents which can occur simultaneously so multi-tasking is essential. For Force Control Room Operators communication and collaboration is key. You will need to coordinate specialist departments such as dogs, firearms and helicopters.
The role requires you to prioritise and juggle competing demands. Fast time decisions are essential and should be risk assessed (based on threat, harm and risk), whilst considering the safety of both Officers and the Public.

You will need to remain calm under pressure, be an excellent communicator and have the confidence to act assertively. You’ll need to be able to highlight risks, prioritise issues and relay information accurately in fast time. It is essential that you are able to take control and respond promptly to changing situations.
You will be required to work shifts, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. The role is based at our Headquarters site approximately 1.5 miles outside of Guildford Town Centre. Own transport is desirable as public transport is not readily available around shift times.
Applicants should possess a Level 2 English qualification (GCSE A*- C or equivalent). Proficient and accurate typing skills at a minimum of 30 wpm and a good working knowledge of Windows based computer systems are also required.

- You must be aged 18 or over on the day your submit your application – no upper age limit
- You must have lived in the UK for three continuous years immediately prior to application
- You must not be a member of the British National Party (BNP) or other similar organisations for example Combat 18 or The National Front
- You must not have served a prison sentence

We are looking for successful applicants to join us on our intake commencing Monday 10th January 2022.
Successful candidates will complete an 8 week classroom based training course. This is full time, Monday to Friday with a working pattern of the hours between 8am and 8pm. This is followed by a tutoring period working the 24/7 shift pattern.
The probationary period for this role is 6 months and progress assessments take place at regular intervals.
Candidates successful at the shortlisting stage should be aware that they will be required to attend an assessment and interview day on Saturday 2nd or Sunday 3rd October. Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
