We wish you all the very best with your application.

Chief Constable Tim De Meyer & Chief Constable Jo Shiner

The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.
It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

Crime recording is a subject which is under constant scrutiny. The Force Crime and Incident Registrar’s Audit team provide an internal inspection service to the force on crime recording and related subjects. We conduct audits on behalf of people and departments across the organisation and supply monthly updates to the senior leadership on the force’s crime data integrity.

A part-time opportunity is available as a Force Auditor, working 2 days per week (14.4 hours). We are based at Surrey Police HQ but the team frequently works from home if desired and required.

The Force Auditors provide internal crime and incident assessments to ensure compliance with national requirements and legislation. They examine the quality of data, processes and organisational performance relating to crime and incident recording, report upon the findings and make recommendations for performance improvement.

The objective of the team is to help the force to improve by identifying problem areas and highlighting good practice. We are looking for people who are passionate about improving quality standards and have the ability to communicate in an effective and efficient way. You must have knowledge of how crime is recorded and a good eye for detail.

Skills & Experience

It is essential the post-holder has:

• Knowledge of the Home Office Counting Rules for Recorded Crime (HOCR).
• The ability to analyse and interpret data and the requirements for data entry and be able to effectively communicate findings and recommendations in a verbal or written report format.
• The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate, establish and maintain relationships at all levels, be prepared to make difficult decisions and communicate them to relevant parties.
• Good computer literacy skills and in particular a strong knowledge of Microsoft products. Experience of using Niche and reading ICADs would be advantageous.
