The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
This is an exciting and diverse role within the heart of the Surrey and Sussex Police Joint Transport Service. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Service Development Team and will be responsible for facilitating with the preparation of new vehicles prior to entering service, as well as the movement of vehicles between multiple sites, aiding with the planning and support for force operations, and the decommissioning of end of life vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be working closely with the Vehicle Equipment Officer and the Service Development Technician for five days a week at our Crawley Down Workshop. They will be expected to drive to different police facilities across both counties and occasionally to outside contractors across the UK. They will also be required to clean and prepare new vehicles and assist the technician with the decommissioning of old vehicles. The candidate will be dealing with customers face to face on a daily basis so will need good communication skills. The role will also include the use of the force SAP database to identify vehicles on the service schedule as well as retrieving vehicle information to create Excel spread sheets.
The position will, on occasions, require the need to work outside the normal working hours.
Skills & Experience
Essential Criteria.
The successful candidate must be able to work alone and as part of a team.
They must have a full UK driving licence.
Basic vehicle maintenance experience including the ability to use jump packs, change bulbs and identify different faults.
They must have basic IT skills including Outlook and Excel.
Desirable Criteria.
They must have a positive 'can do' attitude to work.
They must have a good geographic knowledge of Surrey and Sussex.
UK Driving Licence up to 7.5 Tonnes.
