The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
A part time Facilities Assistant post based at Hastings Police Station has arisen to join the East Sussex Facilities team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team providing administrative, logistical and facilities support to the Officers and staff of Sussex Police. Through scheduled, reactive, planned and ad hoc tasks; Facilities, as part of the wider Estates & Facilities department, undertakes a range of work from large projects to simple requests. Our workload includes planned activities as well as reactive customer requests; often both needing to be delivered to a deadline.
Key Responsibilities
Hastings Facilities team cover a variety of locations across the Eastern side of East Sussex including Hastings, Rye and Bexhill; and as such a full driving license is essential as is the ability to drive a range of vehicles including vans.
From ordering supplies & banking to dispensing stationery & Locker supervision we provide administrative support across our area. Logistical support varies from daily courier & postal services to occasional office moves & relocations.
Health & Safety is very important with the team focusing on housekeeping and conducting audits and inspections to ensure we provide a safe and pleasant working environment for all. Training is provided, but a working knowledge of buildings related H&S (including legislation) is an advantage.
This role also provides support for Facilities Officers in caretaking and maintenance duties around the sites. This includes assisting visitors and helping with contractors to ensure the best service is provided to our customers. It also includes carrying out minor maintenance tasks, decorating, assisting with office moves etc.
Skills & Experience
To deliver all this we are looking for an enthusiastic individual able to work alone and as part of a team. Working largely unsupervised, you will be physically fit for manual handling activities, be able to plan, organise & prioritise your time effectively, and have great interpersonal skills. As part of the team you will work together to complete shared tasks within agreed timelines; and adapt to the changing needs of Sussex Police.
