The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role

To coordinate the delivery of the Exploitation Plan across Sussex coordinating a multi-agency approach to exploitation reduction; with a focus on child sexual exploitation, gangs and violent crime, county lines, and modern slavery and human trafficking. To support the activities on divisions to ensure deliver of the aims and objectives of Sussex Police Exploitation control strategy. Working closely with divisional and partnership exploitation leads

Key Responsibilities

For this exciting role we are looking for a self-motivated individual who can manage and deliver individual stages within Exploitation delivery plan ensuring that tasks are dealt with proactively and problems resolved successfully. You will be actively contributing to the overall success of the Exploitation Plan by identifying issues, risk and dependencies and linkages by proposing different ideas and approaches. You will need to be able to effectively analyse information supplied by the force and other statutory partners with regard to Criminal Exploitation, and produce reports with recommendations to senior officers. There will be a requirement to represent Sussex Police at external and internal meetings and give presentations to courses, interest groups and stakeholders on Children and young person Exploitation, County Lines, Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking S&HT and Serious Violence and Co-ordinate the delivery of training material internally at a local level, and to key local partners and communities. You will also need to recognise the expectations of the various national inspections and returns. Assess, process and gather the required local data, ensuring its integrity. Review, analyse and present data to internal and external audiences and undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character, or work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.

Skills & Experience

• Experience of managing in a complex political and organisational environment.
• Context specific knowledge around the government’s county lines, Modern Slavery/Human Trafficking, Serious Violence and Knife Crime, CSE/CCE, Missing Persons reduction strategies, and associated practice nationally.
• Ability to inform, advise, negotiate, and influence at all levels, including senior colleagues and partners.
• Pro-active, self-disciplined approach to tasks with the ability to be flexible and work to tight timescales with minimum management direction.
• Ability to self-motivate and also work as part of a team.
• Excellent oral and written communications demonstrating integrity, tact, tenacity and diplomacy.
• Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, inspiring confidence, winning trust and acting with honesty and integrity.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
• Excellent time and task management skills; ability to deliver to committed deadlines, demonstrating attention to detail.

• Experience of influencing stakeholders effectively and working with multiple partners.
• Ability to influence, negotiate and make decisions at a local level.

Further Information

This role is available as a 12 month fixed term contract or as a 12 month secondment for candidates already employed by Sussex Police (internal candidates must confirm with their current manager that their substantive post will be available for them to return to at the end of the secondment).
