This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst continuing to be two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.

Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.

Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowance and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role

Salary in the region of c£150,000  plus car and private health care allowance.

Surrey and Sussex Police is a successful collaboration in UK policing that helps improve the way policing is delivered for everyone who lives, works or visits the two counties. Central to improving services and resilience across the partnership is the Executive Director, Commercial and Financial Services.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to both Chief Constables, and integral to the Surrey and Sussex Police Chief Officer Leadership Team, you will take responsibility for a wide range of corporate functions under our ‘Policing Together’ commitment.

As an inspirational leader, you will have the opportunity to bring your experience and creativity as the key advisor on strategic corporate issues.

Across finance, estates, procurement, and our specialist vehicle fleet, through a team of approximately 300 staff, you will impact positively on our efficiency and effectiveness.

Skills & Experience

To succeed, you’ll be a qualified accountant with a full membership of a major chartered accountancy organisation.

Ideally with an advanced degree in accounting or appropriate CCAB qualification, you will also have a Business / Management degree or demonstrable equivalent experience. 

Of key importance will be your leadership and financial management expertise, coupled with strong interpersonal skills. A natural collaborator, you will build productive relationships with the Office of The Police and Crime Commissioners, as well as colleagues across both forces, as well as our wider partners to identify synergies and develop mutually beneficial arrangements.

With a track record of leading large scale transformation, both within your own services and across a wider organisational context, you will champion continuous improvement and be passionate about the impact your professional teams can make in enabling higher quality, effective and efficient front line policing.
