The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
The Evidential Property Team are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to join their team and undertake the role of Evidential Property Courier. In this post you will be responsible for ensuring all seized property items are safely and securely transported between the Surrey property stores and forensic hub. You will be required to maintain robust audit trails for all items being handled, updating online systems and work schedules.
This is a full time position working Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities
To be responsible for collection, distribution and delivery of all seized and found property around Surrey and Sussex Police sites.
Use the Niche Property Records Management System produced reports to identify the property for collection and delivery. Complete a physical check of the property for collection and delivery against the pick list to ascertain that the correct items are being moved.
To visit all temporary evidential property store locations in the respective force, collect and deliver all property and consumables. Transporting items between the stores in accordance with the agreed schedule.
Use the equipment provided such as scanners, laptops and smartphones to record and upload the movements of the property items on Niche Property RMS.
Ensure the security, professional appearance and functionality of the temporary evidential property stores is maintained at all times.
Use the equipment provided for safe handling and transportation of property items in accordance with the Risks Assessments (RAs) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) pertaining to the specific items, i.e. firearms, drugs, cash, etc.
Maintain a working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance to support the movement of property including hazardous and valuable items (such as firearms, drugs, forensic exhibits, sensitive and potentially distressing property) across the forces, and that all PPE is worn as required and is in a usable state.
Maintain the security and safety of all items whilst travelling and at all times. Such as: restricting the movement of items in the vehicle whilst in transit, locking and alarming the vehicles when unattended in a police premises.
To drive police vehicles in accordance with police standards and policies. Ensure the Evidential Property vehicle is serviceable, cleaned and maintained.
Undertake such other duties commensurate with the post as may be required for the safe and effective performance of the job.
Skills & Experience
General proficiency in reading, writing, maths and communication skills.
Experience of working in a confidential environment.
Ability to work on own, be self-motivated, enthusiastic and well-organised. Good communication skills (be able to talk at all levels).
Good level of literacy.
The ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail, with a logical method of working.
Good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines with a flexible approach to working.
The ability to use initiative and work with minimum supervision, along with the ability to work as part of a team.
The ability to manage customer expectations with a commitment to service delivery.
To have good computer skills, including basic Excel and the ability to learn bespoke systems.
Research and problem solving skills Practical experience of manual handling techniques Must hold a full driving licence, pass a basic police driving test
Desirable:
Previously held position that involved significant amount of driving
To be Manual Handling trained
Knowledge of barcode tracking systems
Knowledge of Niche Property RMS
