The Role

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic customer-focused individual as an eBay Administrator within the Contracts and Commercial Services Team. This an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to work as part of a team within a busy and demanding environment. The Sussex Police eBay shop sells a wide variety and high volume of items. This role have arisen due to the increasing demands on our Sussex Police eBay store and is an exciting opportunity to join our established team and grow and develop the service to maximise the income generated through the shop. This is advertised initially as a month Fixed Term Contract until end March 2023 at John Street Police Station, Brighton working between 08:00 - 16:00 / 09:00 - 17:00 - Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the administrative procedures around the sale of seized and found property and Police assets which are no longer required. A key part of the role will be to identify and co-ordinate opportunities to maximise the income received from the sale of all property items through the Sussex Police eBay shop and other routes. Your day-to-day duties will include:

Maintaining the Sussex Police eBay shop – including creating listings and photographing items.

Describing items honestly, to maintain the integrity of Sussex Police.

Updating related spread sheets keeping an accurate record of items listed and sales prices.

Postage and packaging of items and arranging collections from site.

Dealing with customer queries / complaints in a professional manner via eBay, Outlook, phone and face to face.

Maximising the opportunities for income generation and reduction of waste costs.

Keep up to date with relevant policies such as eBay selling regulations and legal compliance for the sale of electricals.

Arranging collection of items which are to be sold through an independent auction house and mobile phone recycling.

To ensure safe, secure and efficient handling of all items processed through the store.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this job, you will have to demonstrate experience of selling items on eBay and knowledge of a wide range of consumer products. You will have experience working within a customer focused role with a commitment to maintaining high standards and displaying exceptional attention to detail. You will have a good level of literacy and must be able to plan, organise and prioritise your own work and demonstrate the ability to work unsupervised within a small team. You will also be expected to have a good level of IT literacy including experience in a range of Microsoft products. The items have to be regularly relocated or moved within the store so you should be physically fit and able to lift and carry. The successful candidate must hold a clean full driving licence in order to transfer items between other sites when required.
