The Role

Volunteering within the Dog School will give individuals the opportunity to work within a busy police team alongside Police Officers, Police Staff and of course Police Dogs!

Learning new transferable skills and gaining valuable work experience, volunteers will be able to contribute to Surrey Police’s mission to:

  •  Pursue offenders to prevent and detect crime
  •  Protect vulnerable people
  •  Prevent crime and disorder

Ideally candidates will be work a minimum of six hours per month or as and when required depending on the scheduling of courses.

The job is based at our Headquarters in Guildford, Surrey however other it may be possible to work from other Surrey Police bases.

Key Responsibilities

Police Dog Section Volunteers will be involved in a number of tasks including co-ordinating ‘stooges’ to participate in dog training as well as taking part in passive drug/explosive search dog training.

Skills & Experience

You will need to have good communication skills and be able to work within a team as well as independently.

You will also need to be competent in the use of Microsoft Office programmes (particularly Word and Excel) as much of the work will involve using these systems.

 

Previous experience of volunteering and/or working within a police environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
