The Role
.
We’re looking for a new District Engagement Officer to join our busy neighbourhood teams in Hastings and Rother.
Come and help us reach our communities and tell our stories.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll have a passion for great communications and engagement and be responsible for creating proactive and reactive content for Facebook and Twitter and looking after contact coming through to us on either of these channels.
You will pave the way for our Neighbourhood Policing Team to communicate with our communities that have been historically harder to reach.
You will identify key influencers in certain communities, build a rapport with them and link our team into community groups, events and meetings.
You’ll work alongside our teams, generating content ideas to prevent and detect crime, sharing the efforts of our hard working officers, and building trust and offering reassurances to our communities.
You’ll have a keen eye for finding and writing compelling copy, and can turn complex information into clear, accessible, helpful messages.
Skills & Experience
Last month content from these districts was seen by 160,000 people on Twitter and 169,000 on Facebook.
We need someone who is comfortable in the social media and confident in more traditional methods of communication to encourage those to report to us when they might not have previously been comfortable in doing so.
You’ll also have basic photo editing skills to choose the right frame and size to suit the channel its intended for.
Your days will be busy – Covid19 has pushed up our inbound volume over and above anything we have seen before, and you can expect to see 300 mentions or comments coming into Hastings and Rother each week.
You will be working virtually to start, but when able, this job will be located at Hastings Police Station.
