Division / Department - Information Technology (Joint) Grade - Surrey Police Grade H / Sussex Police Grade 11 Status - Full Time Contract Type - Permanent Salary Grade Range - Surrey Police £31,004 - £37,042 / Sussex Police £32,796 - £36,369 Working Hours - 37.0 Hours per Week The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role

This is a collaborative role across Surrey and Sussex Police. You will be attending both Headquarters as your place of work with visits to any and all police locations across both forces so a willingness to travel is essential. You are needed to engage with the officers, middle and upper management and stakeholders in order to ensure that the strategic changes are embedded into the culture.

The Changes will be from the digital arenas of Niche, Mobile Data, Body Worn Video, Single Online Home and the Joint Intranet. Along with the Digital Business Change Lead and Operational Delivery and Support Lead you will be expected to ensure that the Business understands the change that is needed and has provided the support to the users to embed this change. There is the expectation that should a change be challenging or high impact you will ensure the project knows this and takes it into consideration.

You need to have good written skills and an understanding of Microsoft programs to develop resources for the business, in the form of Crib sheets, videos and briefing documents at the request of the leads or if you believe they will be helpful. Experience with SharePoint would also be needed to update and maintain the digital repositories for Surrey and Sussex.

Alongside the Business Change Lead you will need to ensure the Business Networks are kept informed and confident in providing support to the business. This will include identification of capable parties through to assisting in up skilling change agents.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Programme of Digital Transformation. Digital Transformation is a necessary and important Programme to assist front line officers detect crimes and support Victims and witnesses of crime; as well as protect the most vulnerable of our society.

The arena of Digital Change is a fast paced area with development across five projects simultaneous to Business as Usual.

The Business Change Coordinator is a vital part of the team - engaging at all levels from Stakeholders through to end users; assisting in the delivery of developments be they statutory, legislative, commercial or requested; ensuring the correct, and needed, detail is provided in the correct time frame and being a conduit into a highly technical area of the business for those who are not technically minded. A knowledge of policing on the front lines would be ideal too.

Working for the projects there is an expectation you understand the project world and it's needs but most important is your ability to communicate to all levels and in multiple medias, clearly and accurately. We will be looking for a willingness to learn and share your experiences; an ability to ask those awkward questions of users and your team in a positive manner; present other peoples ideas clearly and accurately and most importantly to be a positive, lively symbol for Digital Change.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible in delivering the devised Programme/Project business change approach, plan and strategy. Working with the Operational and Business Change Lead to ensure that a holistic view is taken of the business change activities involved across the projects and programmes within the portfolio and develop the required resources.


Assist in the development and management of the Business Change Networks and ensure engagement and support at all levels. Ensure that the governance process is adhered to and where necessary raise issues with the Business Change Lead.


Key is the ability and willingness to be positive about all things digital and to share this enthusiasm with the business and motivate others to do the same.

Skills & Experience

Experience in some form of Project management is required, alongside IT skills and Communication Skills.
Any training experience and communication methodology knowledge would be of additional benefit.

Although not essential a working knowledge of the legal system, partner agencies and front line policing will be of great benefit.


Change Management is a newly acknowledged and valued field and will form a corner stone of this role so any evidence of these skills will be well received.
