This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst continuing to be two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.

Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.

Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowance and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

We are looking for an experienced and talented project and / or programme manager to join our Digital Delivery Team. As the Digital Project Manager you will be pivotal in ensuring that projects meet their objectives or, where they aren’t, being brave to fail fast! You will work closely with others to ensure messages land, the tools delivered are adopted and the benefits are realised.

Please note: This role covers both Surrey and Sussex Police Force areas. Staff can be based at either Surrey HQ in Guildford or Sussex HQ in Lewes. Team members regularly work remotely/from home for a significant portion of the week, but you will be required to travel into the office, or other locations as required, for face-to-face meetings. This is advertised as a 12 month Fixed Term Contract as Maternity cover. 

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the delivery of multiple projects; managing budgets, supplier relationships, project plans, and relevant project management products (RAID logs, highlight reports etc.). As well as the core Digital Team you will work directly with practitioners to assess, test, and evaluate solutions, and you will present to senior leaders at relevant boards

Skills & Experience

  • Experience of project management methodologies (Prince2 and/or Agile). Relevant qualification is desirable. SFIA skills Project Management (PRMG) Level 5
  • Proven experience of supplier and stakeholder management, including the ability to influence successfully at the highest level. SFIA skills Stakeholder Relationship Management (RLMT) Level 4 and Supplier Management (SUPP) Level 4
  • Ability to identify and manage issues and risks, taking corrective action as necessary. SFIA skills Risk Management (BURM) Level 4
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal skills are required. Attention to detail is paramount 
  • IT skills, including use of MS Office (including Visio and Project) 

Although experience of working in a policing environment will be useful in this role, we're also interested in hearing from those in the private sector who can bring their wealth of experience into the policing world.
