Division / Department - Media and Communications Grade - Grade H Status - Full Time Contract Type - Permanent Salary Grade Range - £35,028 - £41,464 Working Hours - 36.0 Hours per Week Shift Allowance - Politically Restricted - The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role

This Digital Production Manager role is crucial in helping us to deliver our communications activity. You’ll lead on the co-ordination and delivery of the communications assets of our work, ensuring that we achieve key objectives throughout the year.

This role covers both project management and technical delivery, predominantly focusing on content production, and oversight of the Force’s digital communications channels, as well as the introduction of new channels and platforms, so a natural interest, and usage of social media and content management systems, is important.

The role holder will:

  • Lead on the coordination, delivery and evaluation of communications assets;
  • Horizon scan for opportunities that the Production Hub can capitalise on;
  • Supervise the management of demand within the Production hub escalating to Head of Production. This will involve ensuring tasks are allocated promptly, assessing risk and escalating where necessary, and are effective in supporting operational requirements.
  • Advise Content Producers on effective communications options and sharing knowledge to support upskilling.

To ensure communications are delivered in line with force strategy, brand, accessibility frameworks and standards, and to support more effective communication practice across the Force. To provide day-to-day supervision for Digital Producers and engaging with and influencing stakeholders – both internal and external – will be the key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Oversee the Production Hub’s delivery of digital and offline assets and products in line with specifications provided, in order to enhance messaging to the target audience. 
  • Take a lead in developing and improving Surrey Police’s digital communication channel presence to help meet Force priorities, in line with industry best practice and individual research. 
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all technical online communication enquiries to enable the business to use these channels effectively as part of their communication plans and activities. 
  • Line manage and provide day-to-day supervision of the Digital Producers, reviewing work-load, allocating resource, trouble-shooting, dealing with queries and ensuring effective risk assessment and prioritisation of demand. 
  • Approve and sign-off communications assets in line with communication plans created by other members of the Corporate Communications department, or as directed by the Head of Production, ensuring content is delivered to the standards, brief and deadlines agreed. 
  • Oversee and maintain the online assets library to ensure it is up-to-date and GDPR compliant. 
  • Together with the Head of Production - administer and manage rights to digital channels in order to maintain security and ensure the correct individuals have access as required. 
  • During periods of extreme or unusual activity provide an out of hours service for urgent requirements. 
  • Possess an omni-competent skillset across the creative landscape (notably VIDEO / GRAPHIC DESIGN / PHOTOGRAPHY / ANIMATION / UX) – you will excel in a particular skillset, but will be expected to be competent across the production skillset. 
  • Undertake such other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may reasonably be required, including the specific duties of similar or lesser graded posts. 
  • The job holder will oversee and delegate creative briefs for marketing collateral across a range of digital and offline channels, targeted at a range of different audiences. They will support those producing multi-media content (video, audio, photography, graphic design) to exact requirements, budget and deadline.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree and/or equivalent relevant experience in creative design, multimedia production or similar

Certification in Adobe Creative Cloud applications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

Strong working knowledge of relevant Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere Pro

Supervisory or line management experience

Evidence of creative multimedia packages in the work environment in at least two of the following production disciplines– video, photo, motion graphic, graphic design.

Experience of bringing creative solutions using new or emerging software or creative approaches

Good knowledge of digital channel technical specifications including CMS and key social media channels e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube

Experience of upskilling others in basic multimedia production

Evidence of delivering end-to-end creative production process from interpretation of briefs, through to concept creation, revision and production to customer requirements, in support of an on or offline campaign

 

Ability to balance and manage conflict between short and long term priorities and reactive/proactive work under pressures

 

Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, with experience of stakeholder management, including influencing, liaising and advising people at a senior level and from a range of backgrounds

 

A keen personal interest in digital communication and its future developments

 

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
