Division / Department - Corporate Communications Grade - Grade 10 Status - Full Time or Happy to Talk About Flexible Working Contract Type - Permanent Salary Grade Range - £28,725 - £31,725 Working Hours - 37.0 Hours per Week The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
Are you a talented and passionate graphic designer or videographer who can help support our vital work to prevent crime, catch criminals and protect the communities of Sussex?
Sussex Police is looking for two digital content creators with the right blend of energy, innovation and attention to detail, to develop multi-media assets that move people to engage or take action.
A specialist in either graphic design or videography and design, you will use your skills to produce on-brand content packages for a range of on and offline channels.
You will be able to evidence a portfolio of multi-channel content and the process of interpreting and delivering to creative briefs, often working to short deadlines while ensuring your work fits the wider communications strategy.
You will be adept at managing competing demand, often acting as a representative of the department at force-level events and delivering training in day-to-day multi-media skills. You will be across emerging technologies and have the latest skills and applications for multimedia production, bringing ideas and testing new ways to maximise engagement with our service.
You will be part of an energetic and multi-skilled team providing 24/7 support to help prevent crime and protect people.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the research, development and production of quality multimedia content for Sussex Police marketing collateral
- Ensure content marketing is integrated with the organisational, departmental, communications and PR Strategies
- Understand video, photo and digital design production, from creative concept to production, editing and final delivery in support of on and offline campaigns
- Create interactive and engaging content within established brand guidelines and in line with the creative brief.
- Create motion graphics such as GIFs and visual effects for content across media channels
- Understand and interpret revisions throughout the entire approval process and able to work to short time frames
- Act as force photographer for formal events, media and marketing opportunities
- Provide relevant analytics and systems training to teams where relevant. Present key findings of reports, including actionable insights for key stakeholders, including customer profiling data to feed into marketing strategies.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and expectations, ensuring work is sufficiently prioritised.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong working knowledge of relevant Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere Pro
- Evidence of creative multimedia packages in the work environment in at least two of the following production disciplines– video, audio, graphic design or video within relevant policy, law and regulation.
- Good knowledge of digital channel technical specifications including CMS and key social media channels e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Instagram
- Evidence of understanding and delivering end-to-end creative production process from brief interpretation, through to concept creation, revision and production to customer requirements, in support of an on or offline campaign
- Photography and photo editing skills
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure with strong attention to detail and time management
Desirable
- Certification in Adobe Creative Cloud applications
- Experience of bringing creative solutions using new or emerging software or creative approaches
- Experience of training others in basic multimedia production
This role requires travel to meetings and locations across Surrey and Sussex, sometimes at short notice. The post-holder must therefore have the ability to travel to these locations when required to do so. Where transport involves the use of police vehicles, you must have a full driving licence and the ability to attain a Force Police Driving Permit.
Further Information
This role is a 37 hour, 5 day week rota, normal hours plus evenings and weekends as required. Hours in excess of 37 will give an entitlement to overtime or time off in lieu as agreed with the line manager.
We operate a force flexi time policy and successful candidates will be able to work remotely for part of the week in agreement with their line manager.
