Vacancy Information

We are looking for two Volunteers to join our collaborated Cyber-Crime Unit. We serve both Surrey and Sussex to reduce and respond to Cyber-Dependant Crime. We aim to be national leaders in both Cyber Investigations as well the Proactive (Protect) sides of the unit.

We are seeking energetic and driven individuals who wish to help us deliver Cyber Security advice to our communities before they fall victim to Cyber Crime, support victims and potentially support investigation.

Ideally you will have around 5+ hours a week to commit to the role. We often run events during weekends so it would be great if volunteers could have availability at least one weekday every two weeks or so.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

The key tasks carried out by Cyber Crime Volunteers will include:

• Providing technical advice, guidance and support within digital investigations
• Interacting with the public to provide cyber protect advice as well as identify new opportunities and channels for us to share Cyber Security guidance.
• Deliver Cyber Security Training and presentations to small businesses, Community Groups, Charities, schools and other organisations
• Use systems such as Police Cyber Alarm to identify Security Vulnerabilities in organisations and provide bespoke advice to support.
• Keeping abreast of new and emerging technologies and techniques. Volunteering within Cyber Crime will provide the opportunity to;
• Contribute to keeping communities in Surrey and Sussex safe.

Skills & Experience

Cyber Crime Volunteers will have advanced ICT skills in a specific or wide range of specialisms, that could include some of the below:

• Public speaking and Public Engagement
• Communication skills (Can you make technical concepts accessible and communicate them well to victims and members of the public?)
• Presentation Skills
• PBX attacks
• Linux
• Penetration testing
•Cyber enabled fraud and investigation
• Hacking including ethical hacking
• Apps (Android, iOS, Windows etc)
• Website development and security
• Encryption and decryption
• Malware and ransomware
• Network analysis and security
• Cyber-crime prevent/protect
• DDOS attacks
• Social networks
• Data analysis and management
• Triage of digital devices
• Intelligence and research
• Dark web/TOR • Bitcoin/crypto currencies
• Digital forensics
• Wi-Fi systems
• Training skills
• Digital investigation strategy setting
• Risk management and business continuity
• Research and development

It would be desirable, but not essential, for Cyber Crime Volunteers to have previous experience of volunteering or working within a law enforcement capacity, the security industry or within digital investigations in a corporate environment.
