The Role
- To be part of a team that provides effective and efficient management of OMU allocated incidents and the NICHE reporting process for each occurrence including allocation or finalisation as part a wider demand management strategy.
- To ensure that Home Office Crime Recording (HOCR) and National Crime Recording Standards (NCRS) are met.
- To undertake all telephone based investigations to ensure the highest standard of service is provided where officers do not need to attend at the outset.
This role will attract an additional unsociable hours payment £2598* (inflation pay rise will increase this shortly)
*applicable if working the standard full time shift pattern.

To be omni-competent within the three distinct OMU disciplines;
- NICHE work compliance
- HOCR and NCRS compliance
- Desk based investigations
To achieve positive outcomes and reducing deployment of outside resources.

Skills & Experience
- It is essential that the post holder has:
- Demonstrable experience in investigation matters.
- A sound knowledge of criminal law and of the criminal justice system.
- An ability to understand vulnerabilities and how this can affect your decision making.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse customer base, partnership agencies and other departments within the organisation.
- The ability to demonstrate high levels of customer care and effectively manage customer expectation.
- The ability to analyse and assess information from members of the public, partner agencies, internal enquiries and databases in order to identify and undertake investigative opportunities based upon the FIF.
- An ability to prioritise workload and respond quickly and accurately under pressure to meet deadlines, demonstrating sound judgement at all times.
- A flexible and creative approach to problem solving.
- The ability to work effectively unsupervised and as part of a team.
- The ability to demonstrate or evidence a good working knowledge of NICHE or the ability to be trained in the use of these systems.
- The ability to operate computer database systems such as PNC/BOF/Charter/NMPR and/or the willingness to undertake training and become proficient in the use of other Surrey Police systems.

OMU is an agile working department, you will be issued a force laptop and after a training period remote working is encouraged.
