The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

The Business Change Manager will play a key role in ensuring that programs/projects (change initiatives) meet the objectives on time and on budget by increasing employee adoption, usage and minimise resistance.
The Business Change Manager will focus on the changes required to business processes, systems and technology, and ensure that the changes are effectively integrated into the business, ready for operational use and that the associated behavioural/cultural changes have been made.
Responsible for ensuring that program/project changes are effectively integrated into the business, ready for operational use and that the associated behavioural/cultural changes have been made.
Ensures that change management processes are consistently and effectively applied to initiatives, by working with business areas to undertake business readiness activities that will help them understand what needs to be undertaken to ensure that the change is imbedded successfully into the organisation.
Where appropriate take the lead on operational transition management ensuring that “business as usual” is maintained during the transition and that changes are effectively integrated into the forces; or on occasions, support and act as a mentor to those who are leading on transition.
Responsible for ensuring that program/project changes are effectively integrated into the business, ready for operational use and deliver the planned benefits.
Ensures that any processes or procedures are in place and the associated behavioural/cultural changes have been successfully adopted and the change successfully embedded into the organisation.
Responsible for ensuring that any organisational learnings from program/project delivery is captured, shared and addressed in future programs/projects.
Defines and maintains the organisational business change management principles for Programs and projects in conjunction with the People Services Change Lead.
Ensures that business change management principles and processes are consistently and effectively applied to change initiatives and works with People Services to embed these within existing people change processes.
Facilitates and enables others to facilitate business change workshops/business readiness activities to help business areas define, deliver and implement a business change approach, which recognises and addresses any organisational resistance.
Takes the lead in coordinating appropriate change networks and business change champions.
Where appropriate takes the lead on operational transition management and also enables others to ensuring that “business as usual” is maintained during the transition and that changes are effectively integrated into the force(s);
Acts as a mentor to those who are leading on the business change transition activities.
Maintains and communicates a set of business change tools and methodologies that can be utilised on a variety of business change programs/projects.
Skills & Experience
Program/Project Delivery
Works with Change Program/Project teams and People Services to ensure that the delivery of the Change Program/Projects is carefully planned and coordinated to take into account the required business change activities necessary e.g. the business processes, training and behavioural/cultural changes etc. required.
Works with associated business areas and the Change Program/Project Managers to ensure that any associated business transition activities (e.g. Training, communications etc.) take into account the ongoing business operational needs.
Supports the design, development, delivery and management of change delivery communications, working with Change Program/Project teams, People Services and Corporate Communications.
Works to resolve any tensions between the business areas impacted by the program/project, flagging any potential issues to the Change Program/Project teams.
Ensures that any business change risks or issues are highlighted to the Change Program/Project team in a timely fashion for the Governance Boards.
Has oversight of the Post-implementation Reviews that are undertaken to ensure that any organisational learnings as a result of these are captured, shared and addressed in future Change Programs/Projects.
Stakeholder Management
Engage with senior leaders across Surrey to ensure that they understand the required business change activities required to embed the changes into the organisation and achieve the desired results and outcomes.
Works with business areas and senior leaders across the organisation to ensure that they are prepared to take on new ways of working by considering any behavioural/skill or culture change required.
Builds strong relationships with the People Services Change Lead to co-develop business change methodology and utilise resources and opportunities from across People Services and Change Delivery to embed culture change into change projects.
Responsible for the identification, set-up and ongoing management of the Business Change Networks/Change Champions that support change delivery across Surrey.
Acts as a coach for Senior Stakeholders and *SRO’s in helping them fulfil the role of change sponsor. (*SRO – Senior responsible Owner is the visible owner of the overall business change Program/Project who is accountable for successful delivery and is recognised throughout the organisation as the key leadership figure in driving change forward).
Governance
Adhere to the Forces’ Program and Project Governance requirements.
Work with People Services Change Lead to provide advice, guidance and assistance on Business Change activities to other colleagues in the Business and Change Delivery teams.
Ensure that as services are redesigned, that they incorporate and embed the associated operational process changes required to make maximum use of any technology enablement so that the maximum benefits are derived from any investments made.
Adhere to legislation, Force policies and industry best practice in relation to Digital Capabilities.
People Management
Motivate staff and officers (as required) within the Change Delivery portfolio.
Provide advice, guidance and assistance on business change activities to less experienced colleagues as required.
