An exciting opportunity has become available for People Services Volunteers to support the biometrics sessions and sampling for new recruits. This comprises of taking fingerprints and DNA samples, which are then stored on the elimination database to be ruled out at crime scenes.

 

The Role & Key Responsibilities

As a People Services Biometrics Volunteer you will play a crucial role in supporting the biometrics sessions for new recruits. All new Police Officers, PCSOs and Special Constables require DNA, fingerprints and substance misuse samples prior to commencing employment.

You will be supporting the delivery of these sessions by guiding candidates through the DNA and fingerprint sampling, in line with training which will be provided. You will also be escorting candidates to and from reception and the hair sampling rooms during the sessions.

The sessions occur on an ad-hoc basis, dependent on recruitment windows, and are generally held between 08:00 and 16:00 weekdays (usually on Wednesdays) once or twice a month with the potential for future evening sessions. Therefore, a degree of flexibility is required.

The role is based at our Headquarters site in Lewes.

 

Skills & Experience

As a People Services Volunteer you will:

- Assist the Recruitment Team in facilitating the self-serve fingerprints and DNA sampling by guiding and instructing candidates.

- Quality check samples prior to submission to the Forensic Hub for testing.

- Apply attention to detail ensuring all samples and associated paperwork are completed accurately.

- Escort candidates around site where required.

- Meet and greet candidates at Reception and provide a short briefing at the start of the sessions.
