The Role

The role of the Senior Recruiter is to develop and deliver excellent recruitment services to the client in line with agreed service levels. A key component of this role is to design innovative sourcing strategies to attract and screen candidates from within the university/ school market place in a cost-effective manner. The Senior Recruiter is also responsible for building excellent relationships within the hiring manager community in order to provide guidance to ensure a best practice approach to resourcing is adopted.


The Senior Recruiter is responsible for coaching and leading their direct reports and providing support and information as requested by the Client Services Manager. This is a key role that requires a responsive, strategic and client-facing individual. 

Key Accountabilities

Financial & Operational Excellence    

  • Responsible for following the end-to-end AMS recruitment process, including:
  • Consult with the client stakeholders and the AMS Client Services Manager to complete a detailed campaign plan, providing applicant targets at each application stage
  • Assisting the Client Services Manager to develop the sourcing strategy for each role recruited and agreeing the strategy (including web-based, campus & school) with HR Business Lead/ hiring manager 
  • Manage client presence at target universities, ensuring at all times we are getting value for money out of the agreements and our listings are positioned for maximum effectiveness; measure and own the reporting on response rates
  • Ensure target operating model and SLAs are delivered against and proactively raise concerns around target achievement escalating these to the Client Services Manager
  • Maintaining recruitment system accurately and ensures direct reports are also maintaining data integrity if necessary
  • Facilitating the interview and selection process utilising the appropriate templates. This will include assisting the Client Services Manager to determin most appropriate selection process to measure candidates skills as required
  • Producing timely and accurate activity and management information reporting
  • Producing communications to a high standard (e.g. candidate communication) and in accordance with the clients brand guidelines if required 
  • Involvement in any relevant client presentations and evaluation / review meetings 
  • Identifying areas of process improvement, service enhancement, related strategic projects and opportunities to increase the scope of the service and communicating these to the Client Services Manager and the team (including administrators and resource specialists)

Client Focus    

  • Providing a high level of candidate care and ensuring frequent communication is deployed (e.g. debriefing candidates, keeping candidates ‘warm’)
  • Creating client commercial value through responsive recruitment services and the delivery of cost effective results
  • Building collaborative relationships with hiring managers and manage issues, escalating as required
  • Maintaining agreed service levels to the client and ensures team is constantly aware of how performance is tracking against the required performance levels
  • Custodian of client EVP, ensuring the proposition conveyed is compelling and is followed through the entire recruitment life cycle

Team    

  • Understanding AMS people are a key market differentiator and is genuinely committed to the development of direct reports in accordance with the AMS charter
  • Deputising for the Client Services Manager by coordinating daily delivery meetings and highlighting issues for escalation
  • Ensuring the Client Services Manager is constantly aware of any relevant issues
  • Overseeing matrix reporting lines to remote support teams

Specialist / Technical Expertise    

  • Holding an understanding of Early Careers recruitment best practice tools and methodologies (e.g. job profiling,  campus attraction, selection and assessment) in France
  • Undertaking project work as required by the Client Services Manager / Principal Client Services Manager
  • Deploying effective recruitment delivery and attraction strategies, using all sourcing channels effectively, managing multiple campaigns
  • Keeping abreast of market intelligence and industry trends in France (e.g. higher education news,  new technology, recruitment metrics, and legislative changes). This includes sharing insights with the broader team

Skills & Experience

  • Fluent English and French language 
  • Worked with, and presented to and solved issues for senior clients and candidates (including Resourcing Managers, Client Managers)
  • Experience of developing and delivering intern and apprenticeship recruitment campaigns
  • Experience of face-to-face interviewing including competency-based interviewing
  • Experience working to and achieving demanding targets, ratios and SLAs 
  • Experienced at producing business orientated management information 
  • Thorough understanding of legislation affecting area of work (e.g. age discrimination, employment risks for contractors)
  • Experience in the use of recruitment technology and recruitment databases
